Enlarging fonts

The years fly by, and i notice,i'd like the fonts in my apps to grow 
- but i find that i never bothered to think about fonts and their size at all, so i have no clue...
What is common sense to tackle this? Using windows settings? Or "in app"? And, is there sort of a global setting one could use?
