Virtual Reality - Headset + ... help please

Hi all,

Please can anyone help me help my wife Julie.

She is interested in VR and possibly getting a suitable headset.

Can anyone advise us, we have little experience with virtual reality, apart from day dreaming that is :P

querying the net for VR stuff gives more confusion than clarity AND, do we really need to spend £400 in order to get a foot in the VR door ?

HELP !!!!

TIA,
Regards,
Phil. (and Julie)

Hi Phil,

these days VR is suited mostly for games and for specialized applications in the industry.

If your wife is interested in games, then the Sony PlayStation VR is the cheapest alternative.

For other applications, maybe the Microsoft compatible headsets may be the best option, but pay attention: these require a relatively powerful PC (the other available headsets like HTC Vive and Oculus Rift have even higher requirements).

Here a link to the MS Store:

Other, cheaper devices AFAIK are not offering good experiences, or have only very limited functionality or low quality.

Thanks a lot Wolfgang,

I will pass on your recommendations to Julie.

While doing a bit of net searching myself today, I started to feel that this may be the case.

Speak soon, I need some advice on defining Properties in X# - I am try to add a sub-section to me eNotes and wish to try and cover all of the variations and possibilities.

I will post on this topic later today, and tell you what I already have working etc..

Cheers,
Phil.

Hi Phil,

as an example: my development PC does not have the requirements for the Microsoft VR devices. It is not a bad machine (a Core i7 series 4000 3 Ghz notebook), but the integrated Intel graphics is not good enough.....

Hi Phil and Julie,

please look here:

https://sketchfab.com

and in more detail here:

The sketchfab guys are very close to VR. Search on the site and I'm sure you'll find some hints.

Thanks Frank,

I have passed on all the details and we will look into this later. Julie is working downstairs on her PC / Tablet right now.

Cheers,
Phil.
