Hi Horst,
it it is a hobby, it is ok, and this is one of the advantages of open source software: you can try it and work with it.
But if you are making your living with it (as my company does), then it should be normal to pay for it.

Troubles with DBF
Hi Wolfgang,wriedmann wrote:Hi Horst,
I would recommend to pay the FoX membership and use 2.10 where the DBFCDX issues are fixed (I'm using the DBFCDX RDD in several installations and can confirm that the issues are fixed).
And IMHO even open source developers need to pay their bills.
Wolfgang
that sounds promising. Can you also confirm that reindexing improved significantly in speed? X# 2.8/2.9 takes very long in comparison to VO.
Troubles with DBF
Hi Moritz,
unfortunately I have not done any speed tests - I can confirm that the RDD itself in 2.10 is much faster than in 2.9.
It was done a lot of works in the RDD area.
But if you have a small sample I can make some tests for you.
For this I would need a small sample application (maybe even compiled) so I can run it on another machine with both the 2.9 and the 2.10 DLLs.

Troubles with DBF
Thanks for the offer! Since that would mean some preparation for me, I'll get in touch with you. Besides that I am looking forward for the public installer to be released.

Troubles with DBF
Guys,
the indexing has become very fast !
- large.dbf with 100000 records
- index on upper(LAST)
- the only difference is the size of the created cdx.
VO: 460.800 Bytes
X#: 460.288 Bytes
take a look at the attached GIFs
regards
Karl-Heinz

Hi Karl,
as I wrote, I have done no speed tests, but could note the speed increase in customer applications after updating the runtime.
And again I will repeat myself, for all that are earning money with X# programming and have not yet a FoX membership: it is a good moment to subscribe and support further enhancements.
Wolfgang
P.S. and yes, you can also hire someone from the team for specific needs and contribute in this manner to a solid product development
