And I am working on an image to place in the same folder/screen, so we see a graphic of a suitable look-up table sowing file name with a longer name (explanation) and a date of last changed - useful for older eVolumes made some time ago like the SQL and T-SQL ones.

Hi Phil,

if you set the date/time with FileZilla on the file, on the page it should be shown correctly. Otherwise give me the correct dates, and I can do this directly.

I'll try to let make a more beautiful page, so you could set a title in a separate file.
Tomorrow I'm in my office and will discute this with Barbara (she is reponsible for all web development in our small company).

Hi Wolfgang,

This is looking very good! - well done to you and your small team (well, Barbara !).

The point of getting the correct dates for my eNote files is simply that it indicates to me, and others, when the editing and updating was last carried out.

This does not make the older ones less useful, far from it for things like SQL and VS (Visual Studio), and PowerShell - just gives the user an idea of what is going on.

From now on, I intend to make the 'ClickStartXSharp' file the one I update and amend with new information and entries, and some of the earlier material will be added in X# syntax into these developing (and growing) eNotes.

Hello Phil,

I have a suggestion. If you have some time, would it be a good idea to post some of your Pearls contributions into Wolfgang's Wiki site? We may need to think about the structure after it has grown so users can easily find their way but that's for later.

For now, I think it would be very useful for a starter. The X# documentation is very comprehensive but what we miss is a starters guide. I used the SSA sample to start learning VO and maybe I can contribute some sample as well, pointing to other contributions on the site, to learn newcomers how to work with X#.

And you have posted more than one Pearl contribution which can well be added to a wiki to be read on it's own.

Good afternoon Dick,

I understand where you are coming from, and think it a good idea - BUT - all the posts I have made over the years in Vulcan and XSharp have been done 'off the top of my head'. Some would describe it as 'on the fly'!

I used to post to Pearls when I had something a bit new or different, and when the forum needed some current postings for guys to visit the site and read.

So all the Pearl content is held in Pearls itself.

Most of what was ever "Pearled" ended in in my eNotes some place.

Now then, on the new guys to X# idea -maybe what is needed is some sort of a new mini project for XIDE and VS, with VS being two mini projects - one WinForms and the other WPF.

I am pretty sure I have done something similar to this a few times - in my WPF and/or XAML eNotes. I would need to look them up.

However, for now I need to refocus on my session material for Cologne ;-0) Currently I am struggling with 'Syncfusion' reporting in my Virtual Machine - had to install SQL Server - thanks to your suggestions yesterday

Can't have a report without some data !!!

Maybe the Pearls stuff can be transferred / transported in some way.

By the way, the Search facility in my eNotes works very well - I often use it to find stuff I need. The problem with writing anything on .NET is that there is not a sequential way it can be tackled, so often some quality tip or idea is within another section, or another topic. I haven't found a way around this as yet.

Hello Phil,

I personally think that we should select carefully what to put on that website to avoid an info overload. If users can find back a solution for a specific problem easily and well structured, it will be a success. IMO not everything in the Pearls fit a wiki. This is no criticism towards what you wrote, but what I think the aim is of the website. But it's Wolfgangs project, so if he thinks importing all Pearls articles is a good idea, I'm fine with it too. Personally I will concentrate on X# in VS as Wolfgang uses Vide, so we help both categories of users.

Should it be a manual selection of a limited number of Pearls, I don't think you need to rush to do that. As long as some of us contribute from time to time to keep it alive.
