Enabling SSL Mail

Post by FFF »

Guys,
i use for many years Pocomail as mailer. Albeit some problems with utf-8, i stay with it, as i didn't find another prog which might serve me as well. - the company is unfortunately out of business. Lately i get problems with mails to gmx.de addresses - they simply get rejected. GMX links to a website, to check, why they reject (https://www.gmx.net/mail/senderguidelines). I checked their points, imo my mails conform, but there's no contact possibility...I suspect the missing SSL of my smtp server, as the implementation in Poco is broken, i can't use this.
Now i wonder, if there might exist some way to add a "modern" SSL "preprocessor-app" in front to circumvent the problem?
Regards
Karl

Hello Karl,

I am unaware if such a solution exists but maybe you could specify which options you have in Procomail which can not be found in mainstream products like Outlook. We use our own VO written mail program iConnect mail; here's an overview of the 10 special benefits not found in Outlook (for most): https://www.ic2.com/iconnect-mail_uk.php#form. This page will change soon (one thing is that the UK page still shows screenshots in Dutch)

We are currently working on a major overhaul and plan to separate it such that it can be easily used by third parties to integrate it in their own program. For us it is integrated (it uses our databases like relations, documents, planning & agenda, but it can work as a separate program as well already. And it does support TLS/SSL.

If you are interested please drop me an e-mail and I 'll send you more info, including the list of things which should be improved in the next version.

Hi Karl,
there should be something to circumvent that problem. Please have a look at stunnel: https://www.stunnel.org/

A lot more email issues relate to DOMAIN not having and SPF record.
This is "sender policy framework" and way to verify the sending mail server did send that email.
Especially the last 4 months we have had lots more email issues and SPF fixed 60% of issues.
We are moving more and more clients to SMS as a notification of important information to replace the critical emails like your STATEMENT is ready to download.
